Every Tuesday Generations Restaurant and Pub has bar trivia battles followed by open mic night, and every Wednesday they present an acoustic feature. Last week Jason Treuman took the stage. This week was another worthwhile Wednesday as Justin Rector of New American Groove provided a plentiful playlist. Accompanied by Jon Banco on sax, Justin sang a surplus of songs as it was my first time seeing him solo.
New American Groove is “a fun loving band from Wheeling, WV who will play anything and everything for anyone, anywhere.” Having seen some of their sets before, I can confirm that caption. They play a merry mix of music, are anything but bland – they are the icing on the cake, the brownie chunks in ice cream, the vodka in the orange juice. Although Justin was by himself he still delivered a delicious dish of music and was enjoyable and energetic all evening. Witnessing Justin Rector was another well-spent Wednesday getting music-wasted.
