On Creation Science:
I’m just going to be as up front as Roy Zimmerman’s lyrics and let his songs speak for themselves. Roy sings satirical songs about society, about struggle and social justice. His songs are political and progressive and he made a “campaign promise” to perform in all 50 states before the election, posting a song of the week as he serenades the states during the political season. This musical man came through on his campaign, as he has hit every state but Hawaii.
He says of his songs, “There’s nothing funny about World Peace. Social Justice never killed at the Comedy Store. If we ever attain a worldwide consciousness of peace and justice, I’ll be happily out of a job. But as long as there’s poverty, war, bigotry, ignorance, greed, lust and paranoia, I’ve got a career. ”
It’s obvious Roy rarely lacks when it comes to crucial social commentary, as he has contributed 12 albums in 20 years. A featured blogger for The Huffington Post, Zimmerman has shared stages with George Carlin, Bill Maher, Kate Clinton, Bill Clinton, Dennis Miller, Sandra Tsing Loh, K.D. Lang, Andy Borowitz, and done several shows with Frank Black of The Pixies. His songs have been heard on HBO, Showtime, NPR, PRI, Air America and Sirius Radio. He has recorded for Warner/Reprise Records and his YouTube videos have seen nearly 7 million views and several thousand comments, “many of them coherent.” He is playing a lot of places, and you can see him this Friday in Wheeling at 7 P.M. at Artworks Around Town.
